Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 2024

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the use of this website and the provision of custom-made natural wood furniture services by Smartresourcebasics. By accessing this website or placing an order, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use this website or our services.

1. Who We Are

This website is operated by Smartresourcebasics, a business based in the United Kingdom.

For any questions, concerns, or requests relating to these Terms, our services, or your personal data, please contact us using the details above.

2. Placing and Confirming an Order

Orders for custom-made furniture may be placed through our website, by email, or by telephone. Because each item is made to order from natural wood, we require the following steps before production begins:

  1. You submit an enquiry or order request specifying your requirements (dimensions, wood type, design, finish, etc.).
  2. We provide a written quotation, which may include estimated production and delivery timeframes.
  3. The order is confirmed only once you have accepted the quotation in writing (including by email) and, where applicable, paid any required deposit.

A binding contract between you and Smartresourcebasics is formed at the point of order confirmation, not at the point of initial enquiry. We reserve the right to decline any order at our discretion, for example where materials are unavailable or specifications cannot be fulfilled.

3. Prices, Payment and What Is Included

All prices are quoted in pounds sterling (GBP) and, unless stated otherwise, include applicable UK VAT. Prices are specific to each custom order and depend on the materials, dimensions, and complexity of the piece requested.

We accept payment by the methods indicated at the time of ordering. Full ownership of the furniture transfers to you only once payment has been received in full.

4. Cancellation and Complaints

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, consumers ordering goods online or at a distance generally have a 14-day right to cancel. However, because our furniture is made to your specifications, this right may not apply once production has commenced, in accordance with the exemption for bespoke or personalised goods under UK consumer law.

If you wish to cancel an order before production begins, please contact us as soon as possible at info@smartresourcebasics.com. Deposits may be non-refundable once work has started, as set out in your order confirmation.

If you believe your furniture is faulty, not as described, or does not match the agreed specification, please contact us promptly with details and, where possible, photographs. We will investigate and aim to resolve complaints fairly, which may include repair, replacement, or refund, consistent with your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Smartresourcebasics's liability for any loss or damage arising from our services or products is limited to the price paid for the relevant order. We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability which cannot lawfully be excluded.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of profit, loss of use, or damage arising from misuse of the furniture, natural variation in wood grain or colour, or normal wear and tear.

6. Cookies and Privacy

This website uses a single cookie, consent_mode, which stores your cookie consent choice for a period of one year. No analytics, tracking, or session cookies are set on this website. Advertising measurement only runs after you have given consent, and only on the order confirmation page.

For matters relating to how we handle personal data, you may also contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent supervisory authority for data protection.

7. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
