We mainly use oak, ash, walnut and pine sourced from suppliers in the North West. Oak and ash suit dining tables and worktops due to their density, while walnut is chosen for smaller statement pieces such as sideboards or shelving units. Pine is a lighter, more affordable option for wardrobes and bed frames. Each board is inspected for moisture content and grain consistency before cutting. During your consultation we bring physical samples so you can see the colour and feel the texture before committing to a species.

The process runs in five stages: an initial call or visit to discuss the room and requirements, a design sketch with measurements, material selection with sample boards, construction in the workshop, and final delivery with on-site assembly. Each stage is confirmed with the client before moving to the next, so there are no surprises about design or cost partway through the build. A typical wardrobe or table takes between three and six weeks from confirmed design to delivery, depending on our current workload.

Yes. After the initial measurement and design discussion, we send a written quote listing the wood species, joinery method, finish, and total price. This quote is valid for 30 days. No work begins until the client confirms it in writing, either by email or a signed form. If changes are requested after production has started, we issue a revised quote for the additional work before proceeding, so costs stay transparent throughout.

We can get close to an existing colour tone, but an exact match to a factory-finished floor is not always possible with natural wood, since grain and stain absorb differently between species. What we typically do is bring finished sample offcuts to your home so you can compare them against your flooring or skirting boards in daylight before we proceed. This avoids disappointment after delivery and lets you adjust the stain shade if needed.

Our workshop is based on Penny Lane and we currently serve five districts across Liverpool and its immediate surroundings. Measurement visits and deliveries are scheduled within this radius at no extra travel charge. If your address falls just outside these areas, get in touch and we will confirm whether a visit is feasible, sometimes combined with another delivery on the same route.

A member of our small team visits your home with a laser measure and spirit level. We check wall alignment, floor level, and any skirting or radiator obstructions that could affect a fitted wardrobe or shelving unit. Measurements are recorded to the nearest millimetre and cross-checked twice before the design is drawn up. For freestanding pieces such as dining tables, we also confirm the door widths and staircases involved, so delivery is planned correctly in advance.

Depending on the piece, we use mortise and tenon joints, dovetails for drawers, and dowel joints for panels that need to be flat-packed for transport. Screws and brackets are reserved for structural reinforcement where they will not be visible, such as under a tabletop. This approach reduces movement in the wood over time and means most joints can be repaired or tightened decades later rather than replaced outright.

We ask for a deposit once the written quote is accepted, before ordering the wood, since timber is cut specifically for each order and cannot be reused elsewhere. The remaining balance is due on delivery, after you have inspected the finished piece in your home. This structure protects both sides: material costs are covered upfront, and you are not paying the full amount until the work is physically in place.

We offer hardwax oil, matte lacquer and a raw soap finish. Hardwax oil is the most common choice, as it penetrates the wood rather than sitting on the surface, so scratches are easier to spot-repair. Matte lacquer gives a more sealed, wipe-clean surface, useful for dining tables used daily by children. Soap finish keeps the wood pale and untreated in appearance but requires more frequent reapplication. We discuss maintenance expectations for each option during the design stage.

Yes, this is one of our nine service types. We repair loose joints, replace damaged panels, extend tables, or refinish surfaces that have worn down. During an assessment visit we check whether the base structure is solid hardwood worth preserving, since some flat-pack or veneered furniture is not economical to repair. If restoration is not practical, we will say so directly rather than take on work that will not hold up long term.

Solid oak or ash pieces are noticeably heavier than veneered or engineered wood furniture. A standard dining table can weigh 40 to 60 kilograms, and larger wardrobes are usually delivered in sections and assembled on site rather than moved as one unit. We plan delivery routes in advance, checking staircases, door widths and lift access where relevant, so the piece arrives without damage to your property or the furniture itself.

Each piece is covered against structural joinery faults for 24 months from delivery. This covers issues like a loosening joint or a warped panel under normal indoor use; it does not cover damage from spills, direct heat, or misuse. We also provide written care instructions covering cleaning products to avoid and how often to reapply oil finish, since this has a direct effect on how the wood ages over the following years.

Yes, many clients arrive with a rough sketch, a photo from a magazine, or measurements of a gap they need filled. We review the design for structural feasibility, since not every drawn concept translates directly into solid wood without adjustment to joint placement or panel thickness. Where changes are needed for durability, we explain the reasoning and propose an alternative before finalising the plan, so the final piece still reflects your original intention.

With a team of three working through the design, cutting and finishing stages ourselves, our capacity at any one time is limited. For a single item such as a table or sideboard, we recommend booking at least six weeks before your target date. For larger projects such as fitted wardrobes across multiple rooms, eight to ten weeks gives enough margin for wood drying time and any design revisions along the way.
